Every once in a while, we get challenged to help our clients create totally unique products. This was the case when our design team was approached by a restaurant chain in the Pacific Northwest with the goal of thermoforming a collapsible, salad bowl container.
The 3-Piece Design
Our client was looking for a supplier that could produce an innovative to-go salad container that would function as an easy-to-use salad bowl once it was opened.
The complete package featured an innovative expanding and contracting bowl, a segmented tray for certain ingredients, and a friction-fit lid.
The Expanding/Contracting Bowl
The innovative bowl is designed to “pop” open once the customer opens the package. Our engineers worked with the customer to develop a series of ribs and channels on the bottom of the container that would allow the package to expand while still maintaining its form.
Success
