VisiPak clamshell containers utilize standard designs and materials and different options are available to seal the packaging. Common sealing styles are shown here. When evaluating your options a main consideration should be given as to the level of security required. Also, the quantity of packages that require sealing will determine if a manual or automated process is needed. Finally, factoring in the package size and material used will help to determine the type of seal that will best serve the product. We are here to assist in these considerations.
Common Sealing Options
Button Seal
Button Seals typically consist of two simple push buttons for a snap to close package.
Rail Seal
The Rail Seal secures the package along the entire edge, fitting securely into the cavity of the clamshell.
Heat Sealing
Sealing for clamshells and blisters includes RF, Ultrasonics, and heat.
REVOLUTIONARY TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT
New development announced in 2024 enables PET to be sealed with RF welding, Ultrasonics, and heat!
Reasons to select a PET Clamshell Package

Low Volume Sealing
VisiPak recommends a handheld clamshell sealer for low volume applications. A dual heat, electric powered handheld clamshell sealer creates a 1/2" x 1/4" spot seal and works with our clamshell line. The sealer is ideal for sealing clamshells to prevent pilferage or product damage and is supplied with a high and low temperature control switch with power light and proportional temperature control system.
High Volume Sealing
For high volume applications, you may want to consider utilizing high speed RF heat sealing equipment.
Here is a link to Cosmos-Kabar and they assert to be the largest US Manufacturer of RF heat sealing equipment.
